If you own a Berber carpet, you might guess that most Berbers herd goats and sheep that provide high-quality wool. Their villages perch on the slopes of the beautiful, wooded Atlas Mountains. Few have electricity or running water. They grow grapes, dates, and figs and have a lifestyle so like Jesus and his disciples that filmmakers shoot Bible-time movies in their region.
But most Berbers have never heard about Jesus as Savior. Their religion mixes Islam with traditional folk practices, such as offering dolls on sticks in ritual prayers. Each village reveres a local spiritual leader considered to be a “living saint,” and believed to have supernatural powers to heal and work miracles.
Even though Moroccan law forbids Muslims from converting to the Christian faith, about two thousand Berbers have come to know Jesus Christ. There is one known church among this people group, but no active church planting, and no Bible, not even a New Testament. They have no written language, so it will be a slow process.
In
the early days of Christianity, many from this area believed in Jesus
Christ. North Africa was home to some of the great bishops of the
church. Ask God to pour out His Spirit so that the name of Jesus will
once again be known and loved in these mountain regions.

- Population 2.5 million

Let's pray together
- For Berber Christians to stand firm in their faith
- For freedom to preach the gospel in Morocco
- For Christian radio broadcasts to reach remote villages for Christ
- For God to reveal Himself to Berbers through dreams and visions
