2012 Keynote Plenary Speaker

Dr. Duane Elmer

Dr. Duane Elmer will serve as one of the plenary speakers for The Leader's Call.

Dr. Elmer's areas of expertise include issues in international theological education, peace and reconciliation ministry, preparation for intercultural ministry and interpersonal relationship skills. He has been a trainer and consultant to numerous multinational organizations including Amoco. Ford Motor Company, Delco Electronics, World Relief, World Vision, Salvation Army, Red Cross, General Motors and various churches and mission agencies. Additionally he has traveled and taught in about seventy-five countries.

Dr. Elmer began his higher education with a diploma in Christian Education from Moody Bible Institute, followed by BA, MA, and the PhD degrees from Michigan State University. While education and curriculum development were his focus, his cognate field was cross-cultural communications. He received a second MA degree in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Prior to Trinity, Dr. Elmer was the Price-LeBar professor of Educational Ministries at Wheaton College and Graduate School where he served for twelve years. Before that he was on the faculty of Missionary Internship in Farmington, Michigan. During that time he also pastored a small church for five years. With his wife he served in South Africa as an educator for four years.

His book Cross-Cultural Conflict: Building Relationships for Effective Ministry (InterVarsity Press, 1993) is used as a text in numerous countries. More recently he coedited With an Eye on the Future: Development and Mission in the 21st Century-Essays in Honor of Ted Ward (MARC, 1996) and wrote Cross-Cultural Connections: Reaching Out and Fitting In Around the World (InterVarsity Press, 2002). Cross-Cultural Servanthood is his latest book. Additionally he has contributed more than twenty articles to such journals as Moody and Christianity Today

 

2012 Plenary Speaker

Dr. Monroe BrewerMonroe Brewer will serve as one of our 2012 plenary speakers for The Leader's Call.

Monroe Brewer is International Director of the Center for Church Based Training, located in Richardson, Texas, and President of the National Association of Missions Pastors. He is an ordained minister and has 36 years of experience as a missions pastor at three churches. Dr. Brewer has served as adjunct professor at Denver Seminary, Trinity International University and other schools. His international experience includes teaching, training, and pastoring in 130 countries around the world. Dr. Brewer holds a Master of Divinity from Talbot Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Missiology from Biola University. He and his wife, Joan, live in McKinney, Texas, and have four children.
