Help with my Non-STEM
Mission Trip

There are several ways that STEM can help you achieve excellence and success with your own (non-STEM) mission trip. We might even be able take over your arrangements at the very last minute if some of your plans fall through.

Last-Minute Help

Although the normal STEM Team requires an average of 6 months from pre-field booking until the first day on-field, God has given us the ability to make re-arrangements for your group in as little as 1 week.

  • In only 5-days: One group had their on-field hosts cancel them just five days before they were scheduled to go Guatemala … all their money was raised, and their time-off was scheduled.
STEM was able to re-book and re-route them to Haiti, where we made arrangements virtually overnight for effective ministry opportunities in Haiti!
  • In only 1-week: Another group’s travel agent forget to book their airfare to Jamaica! … all their money was raised, and their time-off was scheduled.
The group contacted STEM one week before their originally-scheduled departure, and God allowed us to re-book, re-train, and re-route them to Belize, where we made arrangements virtually overnight for effective ministry outreach in Belize! And … we were able to get a much lower-priced airfare (even last minute) than the group could get itself!
  • In only 2-weeks: Political unrest forced STEM to cancel one of our own Teams to Haiti just 2 weeks before the Team was scheduled to go.
STEM was able to re-train and re-ticket the entire Team for Jamaica, where God opened up marvelous ministry opportunities!

If your group experiences a similar last-minute problem, call us immediately toll-free at 1-877-STEM-646; we can usually let you know within 24 hours whether or not we might be able to help. Usually a last-minute “yes” answer will depend on:

  1. How soon you let STEM know
  2. How flexible you are in terms of re-routing to a different nation
  3. Availability of our Field Facilitators (our on-field hosts) in that nation
  4. Availability of airline seats (and your flexibility of maybe switching your dates by just a day or two)
  5. Your availability to “crash-course” re-train for another nation
  6. Overall budget and mission philosophy compatibility between your group and STEM
  7. Your ability to re-register overnight each individual Team Member with STEM (download the STEM Team Registration Packet)

Training Your Leaders at the Minneapolis Training Conference

Every April, STEM STM Training conducts our "Short-Term Mission Leaders’ Conference (STMLC)" in Minneapolis. Hundreds of short-term mission leaders and coordinators come from all over the United States to be better equipped in the strategies and methods of effective short-term mission.

Training Your Leaders at Your Church or City

STEM STM Training will bring nationally-recognized short-term mission training personnel to your city to conduct "Get Hooked!" — a 1–3 day regional short-term mission training seminar. You’ll have the option to keep this seminar internal (for just your own people), or to open it up for your entire city.

Getting Copies of the Material that STEM Uses

Did you know that you can order copies from STEM Press of any of the teaching, training, and leadership materials that STEM uses for our own Teams and for our certified STEM Team Leaders? Plus … we carry the nation’s biggest supply of short-term mission material written and produced by other publishers. You can order any of this material right off our website — and nearly all the material is available at discount prices!

Consulting With STEM

Maybe you’ve got a series of simple questions about your short-term mission program, or need advice in just one or two crucial areas of short-term mission. STEM offers (a) telephone, (b) e-mail, or (c) on-site consulting, in order to help you do the best possible job with your short-term mission efforts. You choose to consult directly with either STEM’s Founder/President (Rev. Roger Peterson), or one of STEM’s Vice Presidents (Rev. Jim Levin — Team Operations; or Dana Bromley — Communications). And of course the lawyers want us to remind you that you follow our advice at your own risk, and that neither the consultant nor STEM is responsible for any adverse consequences that may occur as a result of our advice.
