Team Report – #645S

Location: Turkey (Central)
Date: Jul 25-Aug 8 2009
Sending Partner: STEM Share (Mixed Ages)

• Our team members were wonderful "prayer-a-troopers"! We had very productive, intense, Word-dominated, worshipful intercessory times together on the streets, on hill tops, at our "headquarters" and everywhere we went!
• From the top of our hotel we had a beautiful view of the main city we stayed in...one night a mom and her 2 young sons on the team went up to the roof. The youngest said, "Mom, we should pray for the people now." And so they did... precious to have children participating in their faith!
• We were strengthened by our host's encouragement when he told our team that the SHARE prayer teams are the greatest contributing factor to what is happening there.
• The baby church is growing! There are weekly Bible studies in a village where our teams have consistently prayerwalked. These small groups include both new believers and those who are seekers.
• God opened spontaneous opportunities to share the Lord with the Turkish people as we were out on the streets praying. A couple of stories: One prayer group walked into a girl's school and ended up sharing the Lord over tea with the principal and several of the teachers. Another group revisited a family that we had met before...soon a friend will be visiting this family to give them a Turkish Bible as a gift from one of the team members. Two older ladies (from different towns) received prayer...one in need of healing and one who told the team of her great loneliness after the loss of several family members.
• The team held an informal “VBS” for two full days including a puppet show (complete with homemade puppets & original script by the children of our hosts). A hi-light was taking the children out for a prayerwalk in their neighborhood...we were blessed by their precious requests to the Father for the neighbors and the people of the city.
• A huge hi-light for the team was meeting with a group of believers who are refugees from another country that has even less religious freedom than Turkey. There are now 40-50 of them meeting together to worship the Lord in a Turkish city without any known Turkish believers...we are praying that God will use them mightily to share the Gospel with their Turkish neighbors and co-workers. We are so glad for their presence in the city and their joyful testimonies of coming to the Lord.
