What Will I Do On the Field?
You’ll be doing a lot! … and you’ll be receiving a lot!
First, you’ll be giving and doing several planned and spontaneous mission outreach activities — activities we intend to be a benefit for the national host receiving people.
Second, your national host receiving people are likewise planning certain hospitality and other intended activities on their part — all for what they intend to be a benefit for you.
Both parties will be doing their activities … and both parties will be receiving the benefit and blessing of these activities. STEM calls this the “Reciprocity of Give ‘n Take.”

Specific On-Field Activities
So what specific mission outreach activities will you actually be trained to do? Almost all STEM Ministries Teams (domestic and international) are asked to prepare their mission outreach activities within a balanced 3-fold field ministry strategy — usually about 1/3rd each — consisting of:
- Evangelism
- Construction Work
- Mercy/Service/Creative Ministries
1. Evangelism
- Friendship evangelism
- Jesus Film, backyard Bible clubs, crusades, preaching, teaching
- Door-to-door visitation, Bible & tract distribution, on-site prayer, VBS
2. Construction
- Building, maintenance, hauling, painting, excavating, projects providing long-term benefits to the national community
- Project sites: churches, medical clinics, community buildings, fresh drinking water systems, roads, orphanages
- All ages can help in some way!
3. Mercy / Service / Creative Ministries
- Visitation, hands-on assistance within orphanages, infirmaries, hospitals, homes for dying, prisons
- Ministry through the arts — music, drama, mime, skits, puppetry
- Ministry through sports — basketball, soccer, football, cricket
In addition to the 3-fold field strategies listed above, two other very important aspects of your mission outreach activities will also include:
- Participating in local national worship services
- Various types of relationship-building activities with your national host receiving people
STEM Share Teams
STEM Share Teams invest their on-field activities primarily in on-site prayer among unreached people groups, while providing human aid and relief/development assistance as may be appropriate to a given 10/40 Window nation.
