“My experience with STEM Share was great! Practically, they
- offered the expertise that I lacked in international travel
- devoted a lot of time to researching the people group and culture that we were going to work with
- were able to correct many of the stereotypes that I had about people of other religions and ethnicities
- coordinated our trip with the long-term workers that we were going to assist
- took care of many of the details that I would have missed had I been leading our group.
Each of the team members that went on the trip worked full-time and had other commitments that would have made it very difficult to organize an effective trip. Our STEM Share leaders were not there just to lead our group, however, they actively took part in the ministry that we were there to do. The many practical things that they took care of made the trip spiritually worthwhile since there weren’t a lot of surprises or detracting cultural mess-ups. They prepared us beforehand with great devotions, team-building meetings and great communication. While in the country, we had regular team teaching times and devotions that were a highlight of the trip. The STEM Share leaders also did a great job of debriefing us after we arrived home and really let us know that they cared about us even after the trip was over and encouraged us to use our experience as a spring-board to get us more involved in missions. I’ll end with saying that every area of our trip was enhanced by choosing STEM Share...and they didn't pay me to say that either :-) !!”

STEM Share leadership understands the need for the long-term person on the field to decide what the teams should or should not do...a very important consideration for those who work in a culturally sensitive area. We appreciate how well the teams are prepared and debriefed. The team leaders encourage the team members to be exposed to the local culture in a way that gives them a good cross cultural experience, but without compromising the security of field-workers or local believers.
