STEM is a full-time Christian mission agency that was incorporated as a nonprofit ministry in 1984 for the specific purpose of recruiting, training, and sending short-term mission teams. Short-term missions done right and done with excellence is our full-time focus and our full-time call! As a result, STEM provides:
Helpful Office Staff
STEM has a U.S. home office in Minneapolis with more than a dozen full-time staff — trained and experienced in organizing short-term missions Teams — to answer questions and handle problems.
On-Field Arrangements
STEM office staff, STEM Team Leaders, and STEM on-site Field Facilitators provide all your Team's on-site field arrangements — transportation, housing, and daily ministry itinerary for your Team’s mission outreach activities.
On-Field Team Leaders
STEM provides qualified, trained, and experienced Team Leaders for every Team. STEM Team Leaders handle all field finances, daily Team devotions / meetings, coordinate all daily activities with leaders your group may supply and with our Field Facilitator leaders, including any required arrangements needed with on-site language interpreters, guides, and other national people working with your team.
Tax Deductibility
STEM provides clear, legal tax deductibility for every Team Member’s personal financial supporters.
Experience
Since 1985, we have organized more than 400 different Teams comprised of more than 8,000 Team members.
Field Facilitators
We have long-term arrangements on-site with screened and qualified overseas partners (Field Facilitators) who:
- Are trained, called, and dedicated to hosting short-term mission Teams
- Are able to make arrangements in advance such as housing, transportation, supplies, and all other routine arrangements
- Are dedicated to world evangelism, reaching unsaved people, helping the poor and needy, and can communicate these concepts clearly to Team Members
- Know where to go when problems occur such as medical emergencies, legal issues, lost documents, and so forth
On-Field Training Facilities and Housing
STEM has a Team Training Center in Haiti set up specifically for Teams. In other nations, we have arrangements for similar housing and training.
Additional On-Field Training
In addition to extensive pre-field training, STEM Team Leaders provide additional on-field training with emphasis on cultural awareness, appropriate evangelism methods, and language lessons where appropriate.
Follow-Up Reports
STEM follows up with each Team Member (for as long as they desire) with our 3-times/year publication Commissioned and our annual publication Mission Maker Magazine. Team Members’ personal financial supporters also receive one (just one) follow-up report from STEM via Commissioned.
